Portland Children's Museum with Ashley and Kurtis

This trip to see Ashely and Kurtis we went to check-out the Portland Children's Museum. It is awesome! So many great exhibits!
Kelby LOVED the water part and played in there most of the time!
He was having the best time just splashing with the funnel!
They had great waterproof-ish smocks.
The "dig pit" where Kelby had fun filling and dumping the dump trucks and getting a few rides in the dump truck from daddy.

Sadly, we had to leave...will definitely be back here!

Easter Egg Hunt

We went on an Easter Egg Hunt at the Children's Museum
Still not sure about people dressed up in costumes!
Kelby's favorite pre-hunt activity was definitely the bubbles!

The Hunt!
This video is the extent of Kelby hunting - after this, he dumped his eggs out of his basket (which mostly got picked-up by other kids) and then just wanted to play at the museum! I think we ended with 6 eggs - most of which contained stickers. We got one plastic top - which is too small for him - and a necklace with small beads - also not for him! We had fun and Kelby got to show daddy all the fun stuff we play with at the museum, so that's all that matters!

Favorite Books

In the last couple of months, Kelby has turned into a little bookworm. He really enjoys bringing you a book and sitting and flipping through the pages. It is really cute. I now understand why board books are so popular - he can actually turn the pages one by one! :D I've noticed lately that Kelby picks-out and brings me the same books to read. I was curious if they happened to be the ones laying around so I mixed them all up on his bookshelf. Nope. He still found the same ones to read. Tonight I saw him picking books off, looking at the cover (hasn't learned that "don't judge a book by its cover" thing yet!!), and throwing the ones he didn't want on the floor until he came upon one of the good 'ole ones.

The only thing I've noticed is that they all have animals in them and almost all of them have the moon/sun in them. He's very into the moon and not exactly sure if he knows the difference yet.

Thought it would be fun to list his favorites to be able to look back on!

On the Night You Were Born
This has been (and still is!) mommy's favorite book since the first time we read it (maybe 3 weeks after he was born!). Luckily, it is also one of Kelby's favorites! This has a moon on every page + animals.

Good Night, Gorilla
The first 50 times we read this book, Kelby would laugh and laugh. The story is funny, but no way he could understand it...or maybe he's just that smart? ;) This has the moon on some of the pages.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
One of the good 'ole favorites from when I was little! He likes finding the sun and really like finding the caterpillar on every page, especially amongst the different fruits. He also likes the holes in the pages, which I am sure is what makes this a favorite book! :D
Goodnight Moon
This one has always been (and still is!) a mystery to me why it is a kid's favorite. Maybe someday Kelby can explain it to me, if it is still a favorite! It has the moon here and there and he really likes studying the pictures of the room. This, for some strange reason, is also the dog's favorite book. It no longer has a cover....and while he's nibbled on other books, this one he repeatedly tried to eat!
Jingle-Jingle
No moon or sun in this one. He likes looking at the horse and there is a snowman on a couple of pages that he always points out.
Be Gentle with the Dog, Dear!
This one is a almost perfect example of our family (minus the cat! and that the baby is a girl and not a boy). I think there are 2 reasons for this one.
1. There is a dog on every page. Being one of the few words Kelby knows, he likes being able to point out doggies.
2. There is a page where the dog is howling at the moon and he and daddy have the best time howling together. When daddy's not home, he howls by himself (he doesn't like mommy's howling!!). It is very cute!
Is Your Mamma a Llama?
Mommy likes this one because she likes a good rhyming book. Kelby likes this one for the large variety of animals and there is a sun - turns into a moon on most all pages.
Barnyard Dance!
I think this is going to be a soon favorite. It has so many different animals and most he can make noises for! We've read this a couple times this week...

Wrestling Big Anthongy

Kelby and Big Anthony really love each other. And, Big Anthony (for the most part) somehow knows to be more gentle with Kelby (e.g. the other morning, BA was under Kelby's bed and Kelby got down to say hi. BA licked and licked Kelby's hand and face. I said hi and he nipped my fingers and nose! (I know, maybe I should read more into that??)).
My favorite part of this video is how Kelby shakes one of BA's toys to lure him away from BA's bed!

Lights On. Lights Off.

I was so perplexed the first time I heard this clunking noise coming from Kelby's room when I thought he was sleeping. I discovered it was him turning the lights on and off. I had moved his crib over so he couldn't reach the switch, but clearly it inched its way back towards the switch!
(Video is from watching the baby monitor.)
I was standing outside his room while I was taking the video - so, at the end, he can hear me through the door.

(Almost) Spring Snow Day!

Overnight and this morning we got about 3" of snow!
Good snowman snow - pretty wet!
While I was building the snowman, Kelby was most amused by doing this (??):
We then did what I'm sure every 17 month old does in the snow...play soccer!
Big Anthony had to get in on the soccer fun, too!
The snow melted throughout the afternoon and our snowman is already gone off on other adventures, but we still had about a half an inch plus a little more fresh snow throughout the evening!

Self Portraits

Kelby got a hold of the camera and started snapping pictures of himself....here's what he got - they're pretty good! :D

Animal Noises

Kelby may not have too many words yet, but he can certainly catch on to animal noises!
P.S. Sorry for the blurry video. I was trying to capture the sounds and put the camera out of his immediate eye sight. :D
P.P.S A "birdy" normally gets 2 ga-gas...but we had to settle for 1 for this video!

Nona Turned 90!

Nona turned 90 and that definitely deserves a party!

Wow - who knew 90 candles could go on cake! (Only a Costco cake would be big enough!!)

Of course, when you go to Grandma and Grandpas house for someone else's birthday party, it is only proper that they buy you a present, too!
Kelby loved his new slide!
And had the best time kicking and throwing balloons!

A Whole Apple

At the grocery store, Kelby likes to help me put the stuff into the cart. I gave him a lime and he started trying to eat it, but got very disgusted. So, I handed him an apple instead....this is what was left of the apple at the end. Sure glad the store we shop at lets kids pick a piece of fruit for free while mom & dad shop! :D

Daddy's Home!

In the evenings when I know Chris will be home soon, we start watching for him out the window.
